Hi.

I'm Karis, your resident boutique geek. I created this blog to showcase my own personal fashion while celebrating the inspiring people behind my favorite independent fashion businesses.

New Year, New Mood Board

New Year, New Mood Board

Hi there! Long time, no blog? What is this, about the tenth time I've done that?

With that out of the way, I want to say that I miss sharing things here. I now live in a city that should make this outlet much more fruitful - there are tons of amazing stores out here! I can't wait to share them with you on here. However, I just can't devote as much time as I once could to coordinating interviews and taking photos. Did you know that I once woke up at 6:00 AM to go into San Francisco and interview a store owner before I went to class? That's right, I used to be really into this. My sleep is very precious now, so do not expect that again.

That being said, New Year, New Me right? I'm making it a goal to post on here...when I want to. About whatever I want to. No pressure, just fun! It might be me just stopping into a store and happening upon the owner for an interview (or not!) It might be some pictures of me doing whatever I do around here. It might be one of these collages that I'm about to share. I made one of these last Valentine's Day and then I made two more that I never shared! I already have images saved for two more on top of that. I'm going to create little shopping guides with them like I did last time, so hopefully be on the lookout for that. I also have some *bigger ideas* like things where I style statement pieces in my closet 3 ways. That is the only idea I have. But creating images for this takes time and also requires a photographer, so I imagine that those types of posts will be rare.

Anyways, with that intro out of the way, let's launch into this mood board. I'm very sick with a bad cold, so I threw this together while in bed just now. It's all about winter in the city: a little bleak, a little grungy, a little glamorous, lots of cool coats. In reality, it is so very cold right now that I don't even try to look cute anymore. I just layer as much as a physically can under my big Eddie Bauer puffer and hope for the best. However, I'm hoping that next year when I'm more used to the weather here, I can be a cool New York girl who wears fashionable coats because beauty is pain.

I love just saving and throwing together the things I find on tumblr and pinterest that have been inspiring me lately. That's right, I still have a tumblr that I actively use! I just scroll through my dashboard and reblog stuff that looks pretty. It's for personal use, with the highlights only to surface here, but if you want to follow my pinterest that I use much less often, it is linked here

Below are some items inspired by winter in New York, sold (mostly) at the stores I like to shop at around here (or back in the Bay). You can of course find lots of cheaper options out there, but I like to stay true to what I intended this blog to be: a place to promote stores other than the big fast fashion retailers that already get more than enough business.

winter shopping guide

Orson Coat by Reformation // Jadon Boot by Doc Martens // Love You So Beret from Goorin Bros // Soft Faux Fur Crop Coat by Azalea // Morning Rose Body Scrub by Soap Cherie (to keep your skin 100 in that harsh weather - I'm obsessed with this stuff) // Oddity by Rag and Bone (a really good wintery scent) // Ribbed Turtleneck Sweater by 7115 by Szeki // Jacquelyn Wool Beanie by Goorin Bros // The New Riddim Sunglasses by Crap Eyewear

With that, I'll log off and say happy 2018!I hope to upload more here y'all! Thanks for reading and making it this far, and go respond to my instagram story about this if you read and enjoyed this :)
