Spring, Is That You?
When I first moved to New York, I was a little apprehensive about the winter. I'd never lived in a place that experiences a true winter, and I literally came home from work and had a mild mental breakdown the first day it hit 40 degrees because I wasn't sure how I was going to survive. Four months later and I can proudly say that I now shrug and put on a cardigan when 40 degrees is in the forecast.
The one positive thing I had heard about New York winters was that they make the spring 10x better. The first sunny, warm day of the year was built up to be this magical day where the entire city bares their legs and parties in the street. I think yesterday was maybe that day (even though 50 degrees might not seem "warm" to my west coast and southern friends out there). I spent the day wandering around the Bedford area of Williamsburg and boy was it crowded - even more so than usual! People were walking SANS JACKET - and honestly I was sweating in mine. It was quite honestly the most beautiful day I've ever experienced. Just perfection *mwah!*
Anyways, it got me thinking about just how excited I am to break out my spring wardrobe! Spring makes me want to trade out my oversized black clothing for whites and neutrals with warm pops of color; to pair my denim with vintage blouses and gold jewelry and just feel cute af. Who's with me? So in anticipation of warmer days ahead, I created a mood board inspired by spring in the city.
Spring is all about rebirth and growth, and I'm really excited about some of the things that this season holds for me! I'm going to be moving in June, and while it is very scary thinking about competing against all of Brooklyn for housing, I'm also excited to create a brand new space of my own with people I really care about. Of course I'm also excited to shop - I'm already dying over everyone's spring collections! Below are some of my top picks for the season. If only I had an endless bank account to finance this wish list, but it is also fun to just look and be inspired.
